Industry
Metalworking industry and shipbuilding
Metalworking
industry consists of: transporting machines for civil engineering,
agriculture, servo equipment, hydraulic, valve for engines, wheels,
gas cylinders, steam boilers, boilers, equipment for silos and railway,
nails and other metal equipment. We export these product in many European
countries when we supply our market.
Shipbuilding is developed and we build modern river ships. We have
built over 300 ships for Europe's, Asia's and American's market. |

Chemical products processing
In our
district there are production and processing of rubber, plastic pipes,
wrapping material, paints and lacquers, which capacity overgrown needs
of our country and it is very important export potential. There is
also a production of chemical hygiene means, rubber gaskets for car
industry and the bigger part of it is exported.

Leather, footwear and textile
A very
important place takes processing of rawhide, production of footwear,
haberdashery, knitted fabrics and work protection equipment. This
production is very important and it is usually exported to other countries.
Folk art and crafts and production of carpets, tapestries and curtains
are developed and exported. |
Food industry
As agricultural
production is good, food industry developed on the base of it. These
factories are for production on final products at the quality standards.
The main products of food industry: pastas, sugar, cooking oil, corn
products, frozen and conserved vegetables, fruit mashes, brandy, vine,
meat and meat products, milk and milk products. |

Agriculture
Arable
lands of Srem district are 248000 hectares. They consists of plowed
field and gardens with 236000 hectares, orchards 5400 hectares, vineyards
3200 hectares and meadows with 2700 hectares. About 50% of the land
has the qualities type of land.

| Private
sector is on 75% of land with about 45000 agricultural farms. The
average ownership of land is about 4 hectares. Collective farms and
state farms are on 25% of the land. About two thirds of plowed fields
are grains and about 15% are industrial plants. |

The production is based on modern technology used modern machines
and chemical means where human contribution is very small. That makes
huge quality income. A good conditions makes quality fruit production
and Fruška Gora's vines are very popular.
Cattle
raising is developed, especially hog raising. There are many types
of cattle's, sheep and chickens. Pork and beef meat with a good
quality could be found fresh or as a product. We supply not only
our market, but even the world market.

Forestry
and processing of lumber
Srem
district cherish woods especially oaks woods. Oak is well-known
in the world by quality. It is century tradition and we produce
and cherish it. Because of that, processing of lumber is one of
the oldest industries in Srem. That industry produces lumber, parquet,
veneer and panels and they are exported to European countries. Beside
the basic procession, we have production of classical and styling
furniture, which are well-known in Europe. During the sixties one
of the biggest factories and only one of that kind was built. It
is the cellulose and paper factory which deals with bleaching sulfate
cellulose and it has printing industry too.

Civil
engineering
There
is great capacity for production of building material in Srem district.
Bricks and other building material is produced and exploitation
of sand and gravel. Civil engineering deals with civil engineering
of ground buildings as much as high rise buildings.

Transport
and communications
There
are railways, highways and waterways in Srem district. At railways
and highways there are both cargo and traveling transport but in
waterways there is only cargo transport.

Trading,
hotel management and tourism
Trading,
hotel management and tourism are developed in our region. Trading
is connected with store's which deal with selling goods in our country.
There are many hotels and restaurants management which give not
only hotels but tourist's services.
Fruška Gora and many swamp areas gives great conditions for various
types of venison's.

Obedska
bara, Bara Zasavica are natural resources of water, plants and birds.
They are unique in the world.
Rich history gives constant touristical developing in Srem region.
The most important cultural values are monasteries, archeological
sights, museums and monuments.

|
Handicrafts
Handicrafts
has long and rich tradition in this region. Contribution to gross
domestic product is about 4%. Handicrafts store's contribute with
81% in gross domestic product and rest is handicraft companies.
Handicrafts is developed in Stara Pazova. Handicraft in Stara Pazova
participate with 30% in Srem district, This town is crossroads of
Belgrade and Novi sad highway and railway so the connections are
very good. About 10% of the total number of employment works in
handicrafts.
